SYLVIA LARANE GREEN, born in Ogden, Utah and raised in Boutte, Louisiana, is an inspirational poet from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She began writing poetry at age 15 when she converted over from writing raps songs in her early teens.A gifted writer, Sylvia has written inspirational, motivational, religious, and secular verse. Her poems have been published in newsletters, United Youth Digest, Jubilee Journal, The Living Word, For Crying Out Loud, The Greater Capital Area Journal, and Handmaidens Webzine; in newspapers, The Southern Digest and National African American News (NAAN); and in the soon to be released anthology, Gumbo for the Soul. She has also participated in poetry readings at the John B. Cade Library of Southern University and A & M College, the Summer Youth Culmination program at the Riverside Centroplex Arena in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the Baton Rouge Art Gallery, as well as read her poetry at numerous church programs (youth days, pastors’ anniversaries, convocations, etc.). She is currently working on her next book, Spiritual Treasures. Sylvia has been a blessing and inspiration to all who have heard and/or read her poetry.
