Don't be discouraged; everyone who got where he is, started where he was.

Background Information

The first eight  years of my life, I lived with my parents, three sisters and one brother in Oakdale, Louisiana. Then mom died.

We were separated and put into foster homes. Shortly thereafter I turned nine and stayed in welfare until a month before my seventeenth birthday. My case worker said when I turned seventeen, I would  have to provide for myself.

I had no skills and had just finished my eleventh school term. The only option open was marriage. Theodore and I were married in 1962.  We moved here and there, different towns, different houses, until finally we found a small house in the country outside Crowley, Louisiana. We had six children at this time.

While rearing my children I became a member of Harlequin Book Clubs and received four books each month. It was while reading one of their books that the thought, "I could have written this story." popped into my head. That happened in the late 1970s.

I began to try to write. During the following twenty-six years, I have written one novel, numerous short stories, a few poems, part of a second novel, and have researched my family tree.

My novel took twenty four of those years to write, a couple of years to edit, and now its book proposal is visiting publishers and agents trying to find a home.

I want to write mysteries/crime/police procedurals because these are my favorite topics for recreational reading and television. I'm an avid reader, but watch very little television. I also like to crochet, do various sewing crafts and oil painting.

Birth Place
Oakdale, LA USA

I published a book of my short stories on and have since published some of these stories as well as newly written short stories on Crime and Suspense Ezine. I have one short story soon to be published by Mouth Full of Bullets Ezine. My story TRAPPED, which is not in the Short Stories That Kill Time anthology, was nominated for the Derringer Award in 2007. Two stories and two poems have been included in an anthology of works written by a University of Southwestern Louisiana Writing Project of 1994. NEW! My story TRAPPED is included in Mouth Full of Bullets Best of Year One Anthology which can be found here:
