DuEwa Frazier is a multi-faceted artist, writer, educator, and communications/media professional with over ten years of experience. DuEwa is adept in arts management, book marketing, community relations, creative consultancy, public speaking, event marketing, and media content creation. She currently blogs at Rhymes, Views & News (Blogger).
DuEwa is the author of Ten Marbles and Bag to Put Them In: Poems for Children (2010), Stardust Tracks on a Road (2005), Shedding Light From My Journeys (2002). DuEwa is the editor and publisher of the NAACP Image award nominated anthology, Check the Rhyme: An Anthology of Female Poets & Emcees. Check the Rhyme received an Honorable Mention from the 2010 Writers Digest Publishing Awards. She founded Lit Noire Publishing in April 2002.
DuEwa earned the B.A. in English at Hampton University, the M.Ed. in Curriculum & Teaching (Literacy) at Fordham University, and the Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Creative Writing at The New School.
Her arts profiles, editorials, essays and poetry have featured in numerous print and online publications including: Kweli Journal, Reverie Journal, Essence Magazine, Allhiphop.com, Mosaic, Poetry Ink, Poetry In Performance #37, X Magazine (UK), Drumvoices Revue, Mahogany Butterfly Online, and others.
She has been a keynote speaker, featured author, and guest poet at schools, festivals, arts venues, and conferences including: 2010 National Council of the Teachers of English Convention (KY), Queens Public Library, Westhill High School (CT), Hue Man Bookstore (NY), Bowery Poetry Club, La Pena Cultural Center (CA), Kelly Writer's House (PA), Temple University (PA), West Virginia Wesleyan College (WV), and others.
DuEwa is an advocate for youth literacy and arts in education. She has taught English and Theater Arts in public schools and been a consultant for special programs for Teachers & Writers Collaborative, Morningside Alliance, and New York City Mission Society.
