As a second-generation parenting instructor, I started my “parent education” at age eight, assisting my parents who co-taught parenting classes for nearly ten years. (My mother has taught parenting for over thirty years.) I have over twenty years' experience working with parents, teens and children of all ages in a variety of professional settings. During the first 10 years of my practice, I researched literally hundreds of parenting resources, yet never found one comprehensive resource that had all the best parenting tools in one place and was universally applicable to any age child, issue, or diverse family backgrounds - - so I spent the next 7 years writing, developing and field testing the ultimate parenting resource, "The Parent's Toolshop: The Universal Blueprint for Building a Healthy Family.

"The Parent's Toolshop" pulls together the wisdom and quick tips of the timeless parenting experts who most strongly influenced my parenting philosophy. Then I added my own discoveries, from piecing together proven techniques in a way no one else had before: a problem-solving system any parent can use to find the best solution to any parenting challenge by answering three simple questions; a five-step formula for delivering effective responses to any relationship problem, and dozens of quick tips of her own.

Today, there are dozens of family life educators throughout the U.S. who are certified to use my book (and other parent educator resources) to teach parenting classes and hundreds of family-service professionals who reference my teachings. I take very seriously the charge for which parents hold parenting "experts" responsible: to ethically provide accurate advice and information. My mission is to provide such advice and avoid recommending (and sometimes expose) parenting authors whose advice is inaccurate, unreliable, biased or unhealthy. I make two promises to parents: (1) I will never tell you NOT to do something unless can I offer one or more alternatives you CAN use that are equally or more effective and (2) The advice I have will not only reap short-term results but help you achieve your positive long-term parenting goals.
