Divine Intervention from the Start

Background Information

I was born in a small Illinois town near St. Louis.  I got the opportunity to accept Jesus into my heart because of the influence of my foster parents when I was 17. My mother instilled a love of reading into me and my sister during early childhood, but I did not become an avid reader until my time in foster care. It served as a good escape from the pressures of living with strange families. I read mostly science fiction, military history, and encyclopedias then. I continue to be an active reader to this day, but I read about a lot more things now. I joined the United States Marine Corps after graduating high school. I served as an aircraft radio technician for most of my enlistment. I was given the opportunity to visit the United Arab Emirates, France, Spain, and Japan during my time in the military. I just fell madly in love with Japan during my six month stay there in 1995. Ever since then, I have read everything that I can grab on Japan and its culture. I received a bachelors degree in creative writing and a Master of Arts in Teaching from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. I currently live in Niigata, Japan, with my beautiful princess of a wife, Kiyomi. I write Biblical speculative fiction. I believe that no matter how far down the technology road that we travel, we will always need Jesus' forgiveness and guidance.

The short story, "The Comet Gun," was published in the Waterloo (Illinois) high school newspaper in 1987.
My short story anthology, "Rocketships, Cherry Blossoms, and Epiphanies," was published by PublishAmerica in 2005.
The short story, "A Few More Seconds," was published in the Spring 2006 edition of the now defunct ezine GateWay S-F.
"The Timeship of Semak" was published in the speculative fiction anthology "Light at the Edge of Darkness" in Summer 2007. It is available from The Writers' Cafe Press.
