I was born and raised in Norway, and at the age of 24 I moved to the United States, where I got married, got my green card and eventually my citizenship.
Although English is my secondary language, it is the language in which I prefer to express myself when I write. My writings & thoughts flow much better when created in English, they always have.
My favorite authors vary from American & Norwegian classics to romance novelists. My absolute favorite author is Ernest Hemingway, I just love his style of writing, I love his short stories and most of his novels. (I won't lie & say they're all to my taste, but most of them I've really enjoyed). I think my favorite novel of his is "The sun also rises". Other favorites include (but are not limited to): Henrik Ibsen, Alexander Kielland, Dean Koontz, Emily Bronte, Jane Austen, Susan Wiggs, Lavyrle Spencer and more.
I also have a passion for old sagas & tales that have no author connected with them, they are very common in Norwegian literature and are really good tales that were only told by bards in their time until somebody finally saw it fit to write them down so that anybody could enjoy the tales, long after their original sources were dead and buried. These tales are like ancient treasures, a lot of them are written in rhymes, some are simple but most contain many words of wisdom that our ancestors wanted to pass on.
Of course like any person who writes, I do carry a wish and a dream to be published some day, however if that does not happen, I'm not going to be heartbroken because I simply just love to write. Creating characters and fictional worlds is such a joy for me, and even if I'm the only one who will ever read what I write, that's fine with me, each piece I write makes me feel complete every time the last word has been written. They may not be perfect, they may contain grammatical errors but they are all mine & I loved every minute I spent creating them.
My writing varies with my mood & inspiration. Sometimes I write abstract short stories that make no sense, perhaps not even to myself after it is complete. (Well they do make sense to me, but they are definitely open for interpretation by others). Sometimes I love just to sit down and write a romance story. I also really love writing fantasy stories about vikings, elves & drow, and a lot of those stories originate from another hobby I have, which is computer games. I mostly enjoy roleplaying & fantasy games, where all my characters develop and eventually have a story to tell on their own, which I put down on paper at that point.
Well, I'm sure there is plenty more I could write here and I probably will with time, but for now this is it.
