I grew up in a very small farming town in Northern Nevada in the 60's and 70's. Graduated from Yerington High School in 1977 and then went on to college at the University of Nevada, Reno,
where I majored in Fine Arts and minored in Journalism, attending for two years. My Real Passion for Filmmaking surfaced.
(When I was in the sixth grade our art class made a short 8mm film and I was the film editor for the project and from that point on I wanted to study filmmaking and editing).
I decided to go to Hollywood and pursue a career in Film Editing. I worked during the day at the ACME Rental Company on Santa Monica Blvd. and in the evening I went to Los Angeles City College and studied their two year Filmmaking Class hosted by Vaughn O'Bern.
After finishing the program I decided that I needed a way to rub shoulders with people in the industry so with my 8X10 headshot I headed to casting agents to work as an extra on film sets.
I worked with Sally Fields and Tom Hanks, Ed Asner, Rob Lowe and James Spader. I also worked on Orson Wells last movie, "The Witching". Not long after that and thru meeting some very influencial people I landed my first job as an Assistant Film Editor. I loved working with that 35mm film and was soon busy syncing dailies and using an upright moviola, a KEM flatbed and building sound reels and making logs for the big day of going to the sound studio for the mix.
As the technology changed I was soon editing video, directing and producing infommercials and doing a weekly cable show with Audrey P. Franklyn owner of the Franklyn Promotion office. By the way, Audry was Ella Fitzgeralds' promoter for years up until Ella's passing. God Bless Ella.
In 1996, I moved to Arkansas and helped launch a new T.V. Station called KSBN TV "Safe Television for All Ages". I assisted in building a complete 3 camera studio and Post Production facility. Producing commercials and live TV shows for the people in the area of Northwest Arkansas.
In 1998, my Mom was diagnosed with a terminal illness so I moved back to Nevada to be close and to help out. During that time in my home town I was introduced to Julian Katzman, a retired car salesman, who had an idea for a book. Julian, by the way, is cousins with Leonard Katzman, creator of the well known TV series, "Dallas". Also cousins with, Jerry Katzman, ex-President of the famous William Morris Agency. So Julian and I wrote a book together. A murder mystery called, THE PREVARICATORS, It was a great experience.
Also, while I was living in my hometown again, there were no editing, producing or TV jobs. So I worked for the Paiute Tribe of which I am a member. I worked delivering commodity foods to 16 different reservations in Nevada and California. That was also an experience. I'll really saw how truly poor the American Indians are. That was so heart breaking. I have an agenda on that also.
At 40 years old, I passed my evenings on the internet and searching for friends to talk to. I met someone very special,Syl. We got to know each other over a 4 month period and decided to meet in Reno, Nevada. When our eyes met we knew instantly that we had found each other. Somehow, someway. The only problem was the distance. Syl lived in North Eastern Canada, Quebec to be exact.
On February 28th, 2000, my Mom passed away. I no longer had any reason to stay in Nevada, so I packed up and moved to Montreal. Syl and I married March 31, 2000.
Currently, I'm working on my second book, a Love Story, and a documentary. I work daily Network Marketing and meeting wonderful people, helping those less fortunate than me. I feel blessed everyday and I give thanks.
