Reviews and awards: 1. ***** A prophet in the strange land, November 2, 2000 Reviewer: Jim Conway (Rural Mid-Michigan) It's about time! I've been searching for years for the next Kahlil Gibran or H.D. Thoreau--and Emerson, too. And I think I've found him in Vasilis Afxentiou. "In Arms We Trust" is written within an "apocalyptic" format, almost pleading with the reader to stop, to take just those few moments while glued to the magnificence of the text, and to consider the enormous wealth that rests in the lyrics of this author. The American public--Western civilization, in totem--must latch onto this cry from the distant wilderness. The message is singularly one of those dark initiations so often heard yet rarely listened to. It is that time, my fellows, to heed the words of this great writer!----------------------------------------------------- 2. Jones Universe Pathways is a Greek Sci Fi magazine that also accepts and translates English stories. A World for Georgiana, by Vasilis Afxentiou is set far in the future when sentient plants inhabit the Earth. The writer has evidently given much thought to their society and physiology, far more than this short piece can do justice to. There's definitely potential for more here, and I hope the author has further plans.----------------------------------------------------- 3. This story never takes itself too seriously, and thus even with the science of anti-gravity as the subject, manages to keep the creeping nerdly physics of it at arm's length. I was particularly impressed by Vasilis' use of the language. Phrases like "what a portent!" and "All two-hundred and fifty pounds of her..." are instant classics. Instead of simple, boring discriptive clauses, the protagonist slip-shimmies and jim-jams almost in a whimsical Dr. Seuss fashion. The colloquial narration gives the impression that our scientific genius/semi-outlaw protagonist is lending a bit of Louisiana Bayu hick to the regular old bookworm science geek archetype. I absolutely loved reading this, and the language is unlike anything else in science fiction. A must-have for the anthology, as far as I'm concerned.

Quality of Grace
Soft-cover book. From several of my short stories developed my novella 'Quality of Grace'. The year is 2052. The wealthy half of the world is governed by Glixxon's assassins. Twenty years remain before an irreversible Syndrome decimates all life. Professor Lovesigh is ridden by a terminal disease. But he's on to a discovery that can save a condemn world's humanity. Everything is linked to an intuitive preoccupation, an obsession he has: Something within him pitilessly insists that his prematurely 'deceased' wife exists, is the key to most awesome tidings.

In Arms We Trust
Soft-cover book. From my novella 'Quality of Grace' developed my full-length novel 'In Arms We Trust'. A change is brewing in the concept of Cosmic evolution. It rushes at light-speed from farther away than the Galactian makers of Starseed. It gives corporeal life, breaks all physical laws and incites wars if not seized and disciplined. This Force of Creation brings tidings too awesome and kind to be ignored.

Soft-cover book. From some of these short stories developed my novella 'Quality of Grace' and then my full-length novel 'In Arms We Trust'. The collection is a braided blend of 14 fantasy, literary and science fiction stories that have seen the light of publication at least once, but never all together in one book.

The Silver Rose Anthology
Soft-cover book. Award-winning short story 'Etude' is incuded
