Since 1990 I have worked as Finance Officer for the Burgin Board of Education. It is very rewarding keeping a small school system a-float, but my true passions are my family, writing, genealogy and cross-stitch. My husband, Ritchey, and I enjoy musicals, opera and antiquing. My two children, Linton, 20, and Kate, 17, are bundles of energy that are involved in the youth group at church, the academic team and community theater. We all enjoy gathering around the piano and singing a wide range of music.
Keeping a journal is a very important part of my life. I began when I received my first diary for my eighth birthday and have continued (sporadically at times) since then. Genealogy has been important to me since I was fifteen. Listening to my grandfather's stories of his life when he was young helped inspire me to want to know more about my past. The years when my children were young were rather lean when it came to genealogy research, but several times they took their coloring books to the Kentucky Historical Society and worked at their masterpieces while I researched family histories. My cross-stitch is evident throughout my house, with even more added during Christmas! Oh, for more time!
