Born in the historic cathedral town of Lincoln, England in 1955 my family moved across the Pennines to Oldham, Lancashire in 1962. Dramatically different from the flat agricultural landscape of Lincolnshire, Oldham, featured mill chimneys dotting the horizon. It was in this industrial setting of cotton mills and rugged Pennine hills that I grew up. Early influences included comic books - both British and American. Fleetway, IPC, D.C. Thomson, Power Comics, DC , Marvel, Tower, ACG, Warren. All had their own distinct personalities.Another early influence was TV Westerns. Cheyenne. Wagon Train, Bonanza, Alias Smith and Jones and my favorite TV Western of all time The Virginian. The comic books inspired my love of art and my first choice of career as an artist. I worked on numerous TV related "annuals" for UK publishers from 1977-1995 and expanded my skills into writing along the way. My first book, "Green's Guide to Collecting TV. Music & Comic Book Annuals" was published in 2000. In 2001 I met my future American wife and emigrated to America the following year where I settled into the rural setting of Virginia.
My latest book "Jennifer Jones : The Life and Films" has a Foreword by TCM host Robert Osborne. It can be ordered through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Tower Books, Powells and McFarland & Co.
