When my 20yr marriage broke up I took out a pad and a pencil and began to write again, something I had put away when my other half said it was a waste of time. There is nothing better for inspiration than being told you can't do it! My first novel which is now available came out of this and after many edits 'Diametrically Opposed' emerged as a mystery romance novel set in the horse racing industry of Ireland. It was inspired by my love of horses and of my family ancestors home. The book led to dabbling in poetry which I do on a site called Allpoetry, it also led to writing about my passionate cause the 'Make Poverty History' people and the 'One' campaign led by Bono. It has given rise to many pieces about Africa and the problems seen there and also a journey to see it for myself, going to Botswana and working at an AIDS orphanage there, there is nothing so fulfilling than to see a child smiling.

Allpoetry awards trophies of which I have a few now and it is rewarding to know that my message in poetry is being heard, if it helps a change occur in the chaos of this world, this is reward enough.
