Rosanne Catalano (Umland), aka rckayla, was born in Queens, New York City to parents who were middle class. When she was 5 years old her parents moved to an upper middle class neighborhood in Plainview, New York. Plainview is where Rosanne grew up and where her passion for writing began. She has a Certificate in Creative writing & Children's literature from St. John's University in Jamaica (Queens) New York; obtained by attending St. John's University at night. She has been passionately writing her stories, poems and articles since she was 7 years old and in the third grade of school; the encouragement she received from her third grade teacher and classmates spurred her on to continue writing. After graduating high school in 1977, however, she worked full time as a secretary, typesetter, and artist for over 20 years while still writing at night. In 2002 she went full-time with her writing upon the publication success of her work in print & online to great reviews from the publishing industry and readers alike. In December 2004 she founded and owns an electronic literary magazine titled "The Cat's Meow for Writers & Readers Magazine". Her literary magazine can be read on her author website at: www.thecatsmeowforwritersreaders.com
