We gravitate to our pinnacle. Now retired, I support gnarly fence posts and write experience-based novels.

Background Information

I've a passion for investigating the human spirit. Ruark and Hemingway, McMurtry and McCarthy, Steinback and Salinger all fueled my desire to put into words what I see and have seen. I started writing in 2001 and to date (6/5/2010) I've completed ten novels with number eleven well on its way to being finished.  The first four books comprise a saga set in Nebraska, Wyoming and Idaho from 1860 through 1875.  Five is a coming of age story that probes why a young boy might commit suicide.  Six is a contemporary comedy about a small town barber who can read a patron's mind when they are seated in a chair he inherited from his grandfather.   Book seven is a survival story set in 1855 Missouri, and revolves around a  man and a boy. The eighth book finishes the original four-book saga with a final.  Book ten is an action adventure where rogue scientists at a national laboratory have hijacked a classified project.  A battle-hardened Marine veteran, stands between the terrorists and the survival of the free world.  Book eleven is a dystopian novel revolving around a small town being taken over by right-wing extremists after what they see as the collapse of the American system.  Book five "Morgan's Pasture" was  picked up by www.threemusespress.com and released June 1, 2010.  Amazon reviews are five star.

Accomplishments

An excerpt from my third novel won first place in the Adult Short Story Class at the 2002 Pacific Northwest Writers Association Literary Contest. I've won numerous awards in the Idaho Writers League annual competitions for short story, atricles, poetry and novels. My fourth novel was a finalist in the PNWA contest, 2004. My fifth novel, Morgan's Pasture, is in print.
