The Wordslinger of Orwell

Background Information

If there is one thing that motivates me to write, then I would say it is desire. It is the one thing that I love to do the most, and I want to be successful at it. Right now, I only work as a writer/photographer for a local newspaper (my position is called 'stringer', but I hate that term and never have used it. Fiction is where my heart is though. My dream, which has not faltered since I was seven, is to be a novelist. Fantasy, sci-fi, and horror are where I prefer to work. I write short stories, poems, and once I even wrote a play. I want to be published, and I want to touch all people with my words.

I have been published in anthologies (I don't even care about that anymore though, as it's really not an achievement. Supposedly I won third place in the youth category in one of those type of contests years ago. I was to receive $50 as a prize and I never did). I've worked for a local newspaper, still do. In 2000 I won second place in the horror genre category in a contest sponsored by a small publishing house. Not sure that it's even around anymore, but I did get $250 in prize money. Since then I've gotten better but no more winnings or publishings. I'm working hard though. I entered the Science Fiction Writers of Earth contest last year. I did moderately well, I'd say. Both stories got in the top thirty. Not what I would have hoped, but I'm not done yet.
