Dr. FRANK CHASE, Jr., a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and believes destiny is a matter of not doubting (DIAMOND) and DESTINY cannot happen unless there is Determined Effort So Tenacious It Negates Yuck.

Background Information

Why I Write. My destiny to write began on June 30, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland. I entered this world only weighing three pounds and fighting for every breath inside an incubator for three months. I overcame the odds and lived to begin a trek to manhood filled with intrigue and drama. I grew up in a single parent home with financial challenges. Bringing words to life on paper began in the sixth grade. My upbringing and daily inner city challenges were my inspiration to write. Writing and watching TV was my way of escaping to another place and time. It gave me hope for the future and words became my best friend. I began to write short mystery stories and read them to my friends. My stories gave them chills and challenged their sleeping patterns at night. I was an avid listener of the radio broadcast “Mystery Theater.” I submitted my stories to the radio station for broadcast. That was when I experienced my first taste of rejection. Even though I experienced rejection, my desire to write never dissipated. There was an absence of credible figures to encourage me in the craft and I had no role models to drown me in positive affirmation. Without encouragement, I started to hangout with my partners on the corner and became mischievous. Back then I didn’t know that my past experiences in life would be my best teacher on how to help other people, especially men. My passion to express my feelings became alive again after I divorced in 1993. I roamed through bookstore after bookstore to find material on divorce recovery for men. My search yielded me no results. My destiny was staring me in the face. My writing would be like a voice calling men forth to recover from the past and what they had lost. Writing to me is cathartic, a way to release private thoughts, inspire and think. Life prepared me to author, False Roads To Manhood. That may seem strange, but different circumstances prepare and present you with positive and negative roads. I choose the literary road to walk down. Writing to me is like childbirth. Let me explain my reasoning on what may be a strange comparison. Most women who’ve given birth know intimate pain. Their labor of love is nothing short of a miracle. Likewise, giving birth to words from my heart and transferring those words to paper to become books forever is my way to help others. I pray the words I write live forever in the library of the human heart. To touch a man’s heart through writing is not an easy task. But with God, all things are possible to those that believe. It’s a labor of love that comes from trauma, misfortune, gifting and purpose. But overall, writing is a gift from God. My intrigue about the rites of passage into manhood and my divorce set the stage. When I could not find but one book on divorce recovery for men, God sparked a match in my soul to write False Roads to Manhood. Every since then, I’ve been on an undiscovered journey to rediscovery of my writing passion. I did not want any man to experience what I did, so I made a concerted effort to seek healing amid hurt and pain. Besides divorce, seeing men struggle drove me to write something to empower, teach and heal fathers, sons and youth. I wanted to pass along information before they made drastic turns down false roads to manhood. Men in all kinds of predicaments and personal experiences also inspired me to write and eventually write a book. Finally, I write to lift the hearts of men, to inform women about the intricacies of men and to change the false generalizations about men in today’s society. I write to promote healing, educate and empower people to think before acting. I write so men can dig up dreams they buried in the backyard of life. I write from my heart to the heart of men and youth that they may know who they are and their divine purpose for life. It is a pleasure to empty my heart of words on paper. When I see words I’ve written change a young man’s life that brings great joy. As he becomes a man full of purpose and destiny, he will not just be any man, and not a perfect man, but a Godly man who can unashamedly surrender his pain to the Father above.
