Newly retired from teaching, I'm on the road with my husband and my laptop, as we explore, write and travel throughout the U.S. this year, with plans for South America next year.

Background

I've lived in nearly every region in the United States as well as Mexico, Ecuador and Guatemala, though my Spanish is still evolving. I've taught writing for 23 years (composition, research and technical writing) and had the privilege of reading/teaching Latin American literature, African literature, and the humanities (art, culture, music, dance and theater from prehistory to global contemporary settings). I've also loved teaching online.
I grew up on the west coast, attended more schools than I can count as my family moved frequently. I worked my way through school by taking any and all jobs I could find (tutoring, typing, and working full-time) -- and wound up in international banking in San Francisco and Los Angeles. I also worked in Philadelphia as a managing editor for a think tank serving Fortune 500 corporations. My husband is a continuing sounding board, cheerleader, and best critic, and our daughter has enriched our lives.
I'm drawn to writing about women's issues, historical fiction, myth, drama/thriller, speculative fiction, and contemporary poetry. Currently I'm working on a collection of mermaid stories, and one of these stories threatens to run away into a longer work.
