Death is part of the cycle of life, but many fear dealing with it. Remembering those we've loved through funerals, memorial services, and cemeteries gives us an opportunity to celebrate life as well as reinforce who we are.

Background Information

John Llewellyn has spent more than three decades in the cemetery and funeral industries. Since 1988, he has been president and chief executive officer of Forest Lawn Memorial-Parks and Mortuaries in Southern California. Widely acknowledged as an industry leader, he has been president of the International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association and the Cemetery and Mortuary Association of California. Active in the community, John has served as a hospital, university, and foundation trustee. He served on the boards of directors of more than two dozen business and non-profit organizations. John Llewellyn is the author of Saying Goodbye Your Way and A Cemetery Should Be Forever. Each of these books has won critical aclaim from its target audience.

Llewellyn wrote A Cemetery Should Be Forever: The challenge to managers and directors because he saw a need to educate people new to the responsibility of running cemeteries, whether they were on governing boards of trustees or directors, or were part of executive management. Industry practictioners and state regulators have praised this book for it thoroughness and perspective.

Believing that consumers are most satisfied when they have information to make decisions, John Llewellyn wrote Saying Goodbye Your Way to de-mystify the process of arranging a funeral, cremation, or burial, whether it be at time of death or preplanning. Llewellyn explains the process and options in clear, easy to understand language helping people to make informed decisions about how to have it their way.
