I'm an author, mostly fantasy genre, glbtq.

Background Information

I'm a nerd. I read Discover Magazine in the bathroom. I get story ideas in the shower. I have a pet addiction and my kids have learned to say no. It's not "Mom, can I have a hamster?" It's "No, Mom, you can't have a hamster, or a lizard, a toad, that finch, another bunny--get away from that pot-bellied pig!"

About my writing: I said it was mostly fantasy, but it's also mostly erotic. I don't think of my stories as entirely erotic because plot takes precedence, but since I don't avoid sex scenes, I have to classify the stories that way.

I write slash, original slash. Think "homoerotic". But I don't write just slash either. I prefer writing about characters who don't have single-gender interests--I write about bisexuals usually.

My current passion to explore in writing is immortality, spirituality, the soul. I try to examine the human condition via these concepts.

Self-pubbed on Lulu, pubbed as well on Freya's Bower. Had a few good reviews. Hmm... I was an honours student. Hated English, despite that I like writing.

What? English classes were boring. Well, except for the grade 12 teacher who acted Macbeth out in front of the class and redid grammar because university students had deplorable writing habits. She was great.

Let's see... I spent several years working in a small private school as an assistant to the teacher and three of them as a one-on-one tutor helping students (primary to high school) with English and math.

Additional Information

I encourage writers to experiment with all POV styles: omniscient, tight third person, first person. The better you are at all of them, the better you are at writing in general. Understanding POV requires good logic. What sort of logic? The type that leads a reader without confusion through the plot. Bad use of pronouns often results from not properly understanding POV.

Also, watch out for overuse of the be verb (a telling word) and too many character internals. Don't "think" at a reader to the point of boring them to death. Internals (which often include back story) is also a type of telling, ain't it? Just avoid anything that puts a cushion between the reader and experiencing the story along with the story characters. Most submissions I read suffer from one of the inadequacies I listed.
