I've always had an imagination. Iíve it seems like Iíve always been able to create another world, though in the past I never wrote it down. When I was 15 I started writing mystery novels. I had 3 books done (written by hand) and was working on the 4th when I had passed them around school to my closest friends. I remember being so upset when at the end of the school year I had asked my friends for the books back and they told me they had passed it to another friend because it was so good. Well, once I found that friend, they had also passed in on, and on and on it went until I couldnít track them, ANY of them. They were gone and never copyrighted. I was so sad, I never finished writing book 4 and still have it in my possession. I had a hard time with the loss of my books and couldnít bring myself to write again, until I was about 6 months pregnant with my 3rd child. I had been telling stories to my kids, making it up as I went along, and it struck me, that I was on to something. So I started taking notes that came to my head, I drew out pictures so I could visualize what I was seeing and then I just started typing. The further along I got the higher my anxieties became, for fear that someone would take my work and copyright it before I could. Can you say Paranoid? (smile) So I was picky about who could read it, and always made sure I had a copy at home, I even printed it out and mailed it to myself never to open it so I could prove itís origin.
In Junior high School (Apollo JR High, Richardson, TX) I had a wonderful English Teacher (Mrs. Wise) who listened to my stories and helped me feel confident in using my imagination. I feel that because of her kindness and wonderful teachings that she had a huge influence in my desire to write and create fiction stories. But my biggest influences were my own children. The excitement that would come to their eyes when I made up new creatures and set the stage for a new world adding adventure and twists. My Kids are my world and my excitement in life.
After 3 Ĺ years of working it was finally in print and out there for the world to read and copyrighted the right way. I have had 2 book signings before Christmas that both went very well. My Journey is just beginning as I create this new adventure for Young Adults and their Families and hope that the world enjoys the books as much as I enjoyed writing them.
