I have been writing seriously for 18+ years. It started with CS Lewis and Dashiell Hammett. In high school I was drowned in Poe and Bradbury only to discover Clancy and Cricthon. The joy of reading has influenced me to write.
I have read a great many works, classics and popular, and in the end I decided that I could do better than those that disappointed me as a reader. The one thing I have learned so far is that reading is where our sense of hope and future lie. If I can accomplish anything in my existance as a human being, that would be for some youngster to read and be inspired to cure an ill, or save a people, but most of all to enjoy reading what I have written for them.
