Dyfal Donc a Dyr y Garreg! My Welsh motto means "Steady Tapping Breaks the Stone!" I like that.

Background Information

I am currently a student of Hispanic Studies at the University of Liverpool, so am learning Spanish and Portuguese. I also learn French in my spare time and am trying get back to my roots by teaching myself Welsh!I love to travel first and foremost. I like to see how other people live and to pay close attention to the "little" things that one usually fails to notice as they rush about their everyday lives. I usually travel by bike or on foot, and a lot of the time I am alone. In order to share my wonderful (and frequently painful) experiences I attempt to put what I see into words. So far, I have visited places such as Namibia, Italy, the Alps, Argentina and Spain, and will soon be visiting Brazil as well as returning to Welsh Patagonia. I have also written a fair amount of poetry as well as prose. A lot of this is about the hills of Britain, which I love, and some of it is a bit philosophical, which may or may not appeal.Of course, one can never truly replicate the complex variety of a traveller's own personal experience, but I try. Maybe I can inspire a few other people to take a look around them too. I also write to stop myself from ending up in a psychiatric ward. Above all though, I have realised that a lot of travelling is about personal fulfillment and realising your own goals. As this feels necessary yet perhaps selfish, I have developed the habit of getting sponsored for my journies and donating the money to charity. My books (only 2 so far) are as yet unpublished, but anything I ever made on them would go straight to charity too. So, writing could never be a full-time job for me. It is, and always will be, a hobby in which I can unleash my emotions and try to make sense of the world as I see it (which is impossible and will therefore keep me thouroughly engaged until I terminate my time on this strange old planet of ours)! My major influences would be my parents and teachers, followed by authors such as WH Murray, Bill Bryson, Joe Simpson and Josie Dew. People who I most admire fall into 3categories: those with patience and the ability to accept the opinions of others without making judgements; people who have gone through hard times not just to achieve one goal but to consistently achieve similar goals; and those who invest personal time and effort in the well-being and development of others. That's a lot of people, so I won't make a list!

Birth Place
Wordsley,  Britain

Mostly stuff to do with sport or mountaineering qualifications. Nothing at all for writing!
