My current work is a novel entitled, Judas's Mother -- A Story for Every Mother Who Feels Responsible for the Choices of her Children.A transformative story that offers hope and freedom to every mother who bears guilt and shame for the actions of her children.
Mothers are known for taking too much or too little responsibility for the choices of their children. In Judasís Mother, Bobbi Sims addresses this challenge through Mary Iscariot, the mother of Judas. She shares Maryís story of moving from a position of prestige, to guilt and shame, and finally to redemption and a return to public life as a wise guide for others, including mothers of our own time.
This book explores a motherís profound and unwarranted sense of guilt and responsibility for the actions of her son. Her grief at the loss of both Judas and Jesus causes her to withdraw
from her former comfortable world of family and friends.
Mary feels responsible for Judasí tragic role in the betrayal of Jesus and also for Judasí subsequent suicide. It is Mary who assumes the burden for the decisions of her son. She hides from the world, buried within her shame and fear of rejection.
After months of withdrawal from all who are near and dear to her, Maryís closest friend, Sarah, intercedes in her behalf. It is only through Godís teachings and her loving friends that Mary learns to discern the difference between false and true responsibility. Through courage, honesty, and intimacy, Sarah and their women friends free Mary to set down her burden, and return to her leadership role among the women.
With all that is happening in the world today with teenagers, there has never been a time when mothers have had a greater need for the guidance this story has to offer. Through this poignant parable, the reader will learn to identify where a motherís responsibility ends and where the childís begins. This story helps mothers recognize and release guilt and restore their relationships with themselves, their families, and with God.
The author has added an epilogue on how to overcome the Judas Mother syndrome. She examines and explains the many faces of guilt associated with motherhood, the process of self-forgiveness, and the lessons learned from the story viewed through current research.
Whether you are a reader in search of a thought-provoking story, a bible history enthusiast, or a mother in pain, Bobbi Sims has written a story that will speak to your heart.
Judasís Mother is a compelling story that is inspiring and relevant to the world today.
This transformative story is in the finishing stage and I am currently looking for an agent and publisher. The story has also been written as a play currently in productions.
In addition she has another work in progress that will be out later this year entitled, "A Message From Pain."
