In October of 2006, I left the cold winds of Nebraska, my family, and my job as a P.A. behind and moved east with my husband and three kids. In January of 2008, The Deputy's Widow was published and my life as a writer became official. For more information on my books, upcoming appearances, and good information on film and lit reviews, check out my website at

Background Information

I recently described inspiration as a symptom that needs to be purged from the body...even going so far as to compare it to a piece of rancid meat one inadvertantly consumes...and must get rid of.

And that's how I view writing.  There are no seeds waiting to blossom...there is a fierce creative force determined to spew everything forward onto paper or a keyboard.

I write Noir.  Have you guessed that yet?  Daschiell Hammett, with his first hit novels, The Maltese Falcon (Sam Spade) and The Thin Man (Nick and Nora Charles), and Raymond Chandler with The Big Sleep (Philip Marlowe), defined the genre.

In the 1930's, Noir was born in America.  I'm fascinated by characters; how flawed they are, how unhappy.  I'm intrigued by the flirtation between criminal activity and the law.  The line between the two can be very, very thin.

Additional Information

I have several book signings coming up. April 12 at Twice Told Tales in Kilmarnock. May 10 - Barnes and Noble, Short Pump, Richmond July 5 - Barnes and Noble, Williamsburg, VA, Newtown
