I write humorous sci-fi fantasy for the same readership as Douglas Adams, Jasper Fforde, Terry Pratchett and Tom Holt.
There aren't any trolls, orcs or elves in my stuff but there are gremlins, gargoyles and motorcycle riding, punk rock dinosaurs.
I have a degree in Industrial Design/Transport which explains the amount of cars and motorcycles that appear in my work. I still like drawing them, too, and have illustrated my website and the book covers.
I live in Cornwall in the far south west of the UK so I'm surrounded by burial chambers, standing stones, wheeled crosses, mine engine house ruins and a long-standing engineering culture. In 2002 we celebrated 200 years of Cornish motoring so you can see how deep it runs.
I am also heavily influenced by my musical taste which covers both types of music - no not country and western, punk and rock. The soundtrack to my books is mostly guitar and drum with some new wave art school stuff from the early eighties.
As for literaturary influences, I admire H P Lovecraft, M R James and A A Milne. Maybe the double initials make all the difference. J K Rowling - there's another one!
I am also the man with two blogs.
My Anarchadia bog (http://www.anarchadia.co.uk/BBBlog.html) follows my publishing adventures and my Engine Punk blog (http://www.anarchadia.co.uk/enginepunk.html) is where I share my enthusiasm for thing with engines and wheels.
