Writer, botanist, believer in fairies, and occasionally disillusioned idealist.

Background Information

Instead of the usual children's books, I practiced reading on pulp magazines—Amazing Stories and Ranch Romances—and comic books, likeWonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Captain Marvel. With a childhood like that, is it any wonder that I grew up wanting to create my own worlds in which the good guys—male and female—always won, where right always prevailed, and where love was the most important force in the universe? Sidetracked by reality, I started a family, followed a couple of careers, went back to school, and ended up conducting environmental studies and writing technical reports about them. Now those reports may be important documents, but they aren't too satisfying to someone whose fantasy world always seemed more believable (and far more interesting) than the real world. So one winter when business was slow, I sat down and wrote a romance. What fun! I decided. Much more fun than technical reports. But fame and fortune were slow in coming, so I kept on slogging through wetlands, running sampling transects through sagebrush, and counting rare plants—and writing romances. All this perseverance paid off when Awe-Struck E-Books bought my first historical romance. It was the beginning of a series which I call "Behind the Ranges," which includes seven books and one novella (so far). Since then I've also sold two Regencies, a paranormal romance, and four contemporaries. I like to try new genres, so maybe next year I'll write a spooky book. Or a kid's story. Who knows.
