I am a retired anthropologist, also having worked in law enforcement. My major interests are in supernaturalism -- that is, magic(k) and religion. However, I am interested in just about everything, and I am a bizarre magician. I have written The Holy Art: Bizarre Magick from Naljorpa's Cave. "Western civilization has lost its sense of the mysterious, its connection with the spiritual, with the numinous. We have substituted ignorance for gnosis. My book is a collection of bizarre magick effects and essays aimed at bringing back the union of the art of the magic performer with the art of the shaman, and to bring meaning and depth to our performances." Bizarre magick deals with storytelling and is usually associated with occult and spiritual themes. Often it is dark and frightening, but also it can be light, frivolous and even humorous.
