I am in my 50's & now living in wonderful Cairns, far north Queensland, Australia.

A ex-Truckie of 25 years driving our highways & tracks & our beautiful "outback" & 17 of these my wife & myself operated our own furniture removal business, I love writing poetry be it Aussie "bush", general or war, I am a rhyming poet, have tried free verse but found this very hard for me to do.

I have now self published 2 volumes of my poetry to which I & several other people consider a great achievement as I only started writing in December 2006 & I have never had any formal education in writing (this often shows in my spelling) in fact I was 15 when I made grade 8 ( this is the 1st year of high school in Australia) I stayed for 3 months, then left for the work force.

I suppose my inspiration comes from life in general, memories of my childhood & talking to our ex & present Diggers (Aussie armed forces personel) I have & always will love reading the likes of Henry Lawson, "Banjo" Paterson, C.J.Dennis, Dorothy McKellar, Will Olgilvie among many others.

Accomplishments

The biggest "coop" for me so far would be how proud I was to have a part of my poem "Villers-Bretonneux" read from this years 2008 ANZAC day commemorations in France at the post dawn service breakfast & both my volumes presented to the Victoria school for their library.

Guest performer at the tropical writers festival 31st August 2008.

Top 10 judges choice awards ASA Publishing co. & bookshop & some of my work included in their 2007 anthology.

2nd place, ASA Publishing Co. & bookshop poetry competition 2008.

2 poems selected in top 10 judges choice awards ASA Publishin Co. & bookshop poetry competition 2008.

Australia day 2008 invited to recite 3 of my "bush" poems live on stage.

Numerous local radio & newspaper articles.

5 poet of the month awards from "The creative pen" world wide poetry website.

Poems "drought" & "Six feet tall" submitted & accepted for "The Curious record" magazine publication. www.ozpoeticsociety.com/curiousrecord/

My poem "Storm" to be included in Tropical
writers group anthology for 2008 "Raining on the Sun"

My poem 'A Farmer's Plight' has been awarded a Commended place in the 2008 Gumblossoms competition.
