I am a lifelong Christian, retired English teacher, widowed after 54 years of marriage, four children, seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Because of military and civil service employment, we lived in many areas and under diverse conditions for most of our lives.
I have always enjoyed extensive reading and creative writing in that order. At a late stage in my life when time finally permitted, I devoted my attention more fully to these enterprises . I have written a book called OUR WHIRLING WORLD--TO BE IN IT BUT NOT OF IT, which is now in production.
My motivation for chronicling my thoughts and adventures as a pilgrim through this world is to encourage others along the way; to emphasize the positive side of life, to keep hope alive, and so to maximize every day of life. I share some hard lessons learned because of poor judgment and bad decisions in the hope of sparing others the same mistakes and their inevitable consequences.
This sounds terribly somber and serious, but that is not who I am. I have laughed and loved my way through life, thoroughly enjoy my family, especially every new generation, and expect to continue in that vein until the coffin lid finally slams shut.
In fact, I have a disrespectful but honest friend who says, "When they are closing the lid, a voice will be heard yelling, "Just a minute! I have one more thing to say!"
Ah, yes! Words and people have been my loves.
