I am a storyteller. As a teenager, I kept the neighborhood children entertained. They came to my home often and begged for more stories! Throughout the years, I have received numerous awards for my writing. In 1991, I graduated from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication.
My book, You and the Broken American Healthcare System, was born from both tragedy and passion. My late husband, Jay, was diagnosed with an aggressive brain cancer, a Glioblastoma. Jay was full of life and chose to fight the cancer. However, the ‘system’ had other ideas. They refused to operate and Jay was forced to spend the last fourteen months of his life in a ‘white-coat war zone’. The book documents how many staff in four American hospitals pushed for his demise, abusing him physically, mentally, and emotionally.
The book does not fulfill a vendetta. The book does not provide staff or hospital names. However, it does describe how I passionately, fiercely fought for my husband – for my best friend! It also documents my passion – to warn- to inform the American people.
There is an answer! The book details how we can defeat the demons of the broken system - Big Government, Big Insurance, Big Pharma - and Big Medicine. It's all in our own hands, folks. It's all in our own hands!
