For clever, fun poetry, I love the work of poets like Ogden Nash, Wendy Cope, Dorothy Parker, Dr. Seuss, Jack Prelutsky and Shel Silverstein. For kids books, I was strongly influenced by books like The Funny Guy, Katie John and The Ghost of Dibble Hollow (and Harriet the Spy, of course!)
I've always loved to read and write. I was an English major at Penn State (Go Nittany Lions!) but I didn't really start writing seriously until I was expecting twins. That was nine years ago - and I haven't stopped since then! My kids are a constant source of fun and creativity and ideas, and I very often brainstorm and write with them. We have several projects ongoing right now. I'm also lucky enough to have a very encouraging and supportive husband.
I'm also inspired by the members of Women Who Write, a New Jersey not-for-profit writing collective for women. They are a group of talented and nurturing women who all pull for one another to get their words published. I am the coordinator of one of the writing groups under this umbrella., and I am also the editor of their annual literary magazine, Goldfinch.
