Carlos Rubio Albet was born in Cuba. In 1961, he came to the United States and had his first short story published while still in undergraduate school. His work, in English and Spanish, has appeared in the anthologies Cuban American Writers, 20 Cuentistas Cubanos, Distinct Voices, Narrativa y Libertad and Motu Proprio.

Accomplishments

In 1989, his novel, QUADRIVIUM, received the "Nuevo Leon International Prize for Novels." He has been twice a finalist in the Letras de Oro literary competition with his novels SAGA and TIEMPO MUERTO. He recently finished a novel entitled ORISHA and is now working on CALIFORNIA FEVER, the third installment in a trilogy of satirical novels. In June 2004 his bilingual novel DEAD TIME/TIEMPO MUERTO received the Book of the Year Award.
