Boredom is a crime against humanity.

Background Information

Jane Covernton is Canadian. A Canadian is apparently someone who believes in sharing, in universal health care, in taking care of the poorest in society.

She is "spiritual" and follows an ancient spiritual path. She believes that God is in everything and everything is in God. She prays and meditates.

She is obviously very serious, but has a dry and pointed sense of humour.

Major influences (or that is to say writers she loves, that she re-reads): Doris Lessing, Rebecca West, Jamaica Kincaid, John Fowles, Leo Tolstoy, Jane Austen, Graham Greene etc.

More about her books can be found at her website at

Published two novels and one collection of poetry.
