Background Information

Ms. Muhammad was born and raised in southwest Michigan the last of twelve children. She first started penning at the age of sixteen when she wrote her first poem "save the children".  With much encouragement from family and friends she continued to write and published her first article "Men of Bondage"  In the local paper "The Citizen" along with poetry. She has written her first book in remembrance of her Mother for which the title poem  "Echoes of an Era" is dedicated along with the poem "Mother".
 
  "I drew strength form the strong yet gentle dicipline and encouragement from my mother to continue in my writngs."  Ms. Muhammad stated.
 
 

 
Accomplishments

Ms. Muhammad's love for children soon brought about the books "The Story Box" and Hugs and Kisses.

"There's nothing more rewarding than giving a child a book and letting them visit many places in their imagination." She added.

Ms. Muhammad has given her time to the Salvation Army as a cook and server for the soup kitchen in Benton Harbor, Michigan. She also holds the title of Miss Congeniality of the NAACPs' first Sweethearts Ball held in Benton Harbor in 1988. She is an award winner of her riveting poetry prose. She has recently completed a book for young adults and her second book of poetry which she says is geared towards social issues, spiritual awareness and of course love and children. Now available "Forever Friends" an Anthology where Ms. Muhammad has been featured for her poem "Our Friendship". Published by Mandinam Press and edited by author Shelagh Watkins of the UK.

Additional Information

Ms. Muhammad's second book of poetry "Journeys of a Soul" is now available at Amazon and is also on Kindle. Her first book Echoes of an Era is Now being re-released through AG Press and will be available through all online stores.
