As she has worked with women and observed them in her personal life, Tamara has noticed that many walk around carrying the wounds from life experiences in such a way as to lose contact with a sense of personal value. Often times, this de-valuing of self is simply accepted as "the way things are." As a result, women find themselves in situations that re-injure them over and over again. They have difficulty learning the appropriate times and ways to say "No." They also end up isolated and suffering because they lack the support of other women, whom they see a competitive forces that threaten an already insecure sense of self. This state of affairs for women has troubled and infuriated Tamara to the point that it has become my personal crusade to teach women of their value, their strength and their need for mutual support. In her work as a Marriage and Family Therapist, Tamara has been successful at helping many women come to understand their true value and lead lives that were more fulfilling than they had previously thought possible. But, after helping so many women, one-hour-at-a-time, Tamara became quite restless. One woman, one hour at a time is not enough. She needed to do more. She needed to start a revolution!
Tamara says:
"The beginning, where I first became aware of what women suffer and the suffering they cause as a result of unresolved pain, was in my personal relationships with the significant women in my family. They endured excruciating life challenges that left them with wounds. I have witnessed and experienced those wounds first-hand. I'm sure the motivation for writing this book also came from my desire to heal families -- generations of women -- and in some way, make the suffering that I witnessed, with the beautiful women whom I love, worth more than just the tears that have fallen. In my private practice, I have become something of a "guru" for helping women turn tears into triumph - breaking generational patterns of pain. When I can reach women across the world with this message, each tear that has been turned to triumph becomes a personal victory that makes the legacy I inherited from the women in my family the most valuable legacy I could have ever asked for."
