She was born Sybil Katrice Barkley and raised in Detroit, MI by her mother and grandparents. Barkley-Staples is a graduate from Clark Atlanta Univ. with a degree in Broadcast Journalism. She's written numerous short stories and insightful articles that have been published in various print and website media. Barkley-Staples gives credit to her family and the Boys & Girls Club for her strong will and determination to reach her goals.
