Wine writer and educator Richard Best created his unique wine Lexicon to fulfil a need -- a need to document the terminology that wine people use every day when talking about wine. His Lexicon has been adopted by numerous wineries, who invariably have a copy "under the tasting bar".

Richard Best, a.k.a. The Frugal Oenophile, is a wine writer and educator. He is a member of and webmaster for the Wine Writers' Circle of Canada. He produces a somewhat monthly educational email newsletter, and is the author of The Frugal Oenophile's Lexicon of Wine Tasting Terms, a best seller and industry standard text for understanding wine. His most recent book is The Frugal Oenophile’s Winegrape Primer, a pocket sized reference to more than 200 winegrapes.
