I just started writing after an 8 year silence. I am so happy to be unblocked. It's been almost 2 months. I've been writing almost every day and hope to write more frequently. I have been devouring the written word and just went to my first open mic in 8 years last week!
I am inspired by art, by nature and people. I am inspired by everything around me. I love memory, beautiful things, ugly things, the wonderful, amazing and terrible. Anything that sparkles or is covered in soot. Anything that makes me feel intensely.
It's hard to pin down my influence exactly. Various poets from all over the world, throughout human history. I am pretty darn excited about Pablo Neruda, Mary Oliver, Diane DiPrima, Joy Harjo, Dylan Thomas, Tu Fu... there are too many to list. And it's been so long since I was full of these poems, I need more to really get my foothold.
