I was born in the south, but traveled all over the country while growing up.I always looked forward to going home to Mississippi every summer, that was home to me.That was back in the days when trains were the way to travel.Beautiful dining cars with starched white tablecloths and a single red rose on each table, sleeping cars, and a porter dressed in a wonderful dark blue uniform while pushing a cart and saying;in a sing song rhythm, I got samiches and cold rinks, meaning, ham and cheese sandwiches and Cokes,or Dr.Pepper.I love the blues and jazz music from the deep south and the wonderful gospel music and I know that had a terrific influence on my writing as well as my painting.I still listen to music while writing or painting, Like most writers, I go into my own world and can see the stories in my minds eye. I truly hope you enjoy my stories.
Birth Place: Starkville, MS United States

Additional information
|
| I finally published my children's book "JOLLY THE ELF "in late September 2009, what a joy that was. I also had the pleasure of working with former Disney illustrator John Blackford,he is amazing in the way he brought my Jolly to life.
Terry Morris of the Dayton Daily News has been so
so kind to us in his praise of the story JOLLY THE ELF. We are already setting signing dates for next season If you would like to set-up a date , please e-mail jshepherdripley@aol.com.
I have another book coming out next summer, more to follow, also a play for next holiday season. We had plans for a opening this year, however family illness stepped in, but we are very excited about the play and will keep you posted. |
