I have written hundreds of published articles on design and the decorative arts and several books alone and with my co-author and husband Kenneth Fehrman. We are a husband and wife design team who have worked together for more than twenty-five years in the field of interior design, color consulting, and accessories design.
Kenneth earned his doctoral degree from the University of San Francisco, specializing in color and its effects. He is a Professor of Interior Design at San Francisco State University and has been a color consultant and interior designer for the past twenty-five years. He has also taught graphic design, environmental design, textiles and aesthetics. He is a member of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA), the Interior Design Educators Council (IDEC) the Inter-Society Color Council (ISCC) and the Society for Light Treatment and Biological Rhythms (SLTBR).
I am an interior designer, color consultant and writer. I have been Kenneth's color research assistant for over twenty years and co-author of several design books. I have taught color and design courses at San Francisco State University, the Rudolph Schaeffer School of Design, and Western Design Institute. I also design a line of pillows featuring antique textiles and a jewelry collection featuring antique stones and carvings. I am a member of the Inter-Society Color Council (ISCC) and The Authors Guild.
Kenneth and I founded PRISM (Photochromatic Research Institute for Science and Marketing) in 1990 to disseminate accurate information about color/light. Separately and together, we have written seven books and several hundred articles. Currently, we continue our color research in the area of color/light therapy and give seminars on the effects of color/light.
We offer color seminars for design professionals and the public.
In addition to being passionate about color and design, I also love animals. So, in 2000 I become the founding President of STOLA–Saluki Tree of Life Alliance, the national nonprofit Saluki hound rescue group. We do rescue and provide loving homes across the nation. To help new adopters better understand the sighthound breeds, and based on my years of work with wolves and rescue canines, I wrote Only Angels-How to Raise and Train the Perfect Sighthound, which covers diet, health issues and the positive reinforcement based Affection Training Method developed specifically for sighthounds. All proceeds from the Sale of Only Angels are donated to STOLA Saluki Rescue.
