Jim Davis joined the Marine Corps after graduating from High School. He won numerous awards including 4 Meritorious Awards and a Marine of the year award in 1988. After leaving the Marine Corps, he decided to attend Southern Christian University and became a Pastor. Eventually, Jim moved to Indiana to accept a new position as a Pastor and football coach.
One day while engaging in his normal training regiment, he learned that one of his players at North Central had been involved in a horrible truck accident. He was buried under a truck and was able to miraculously push the truck off his body to save his life. Jim visited him at the hospital and informed Caleb that he was an incredible inspiration and made a deal with him. The deal was simple, “I will try out for an NFL team if you stay the course and never give up on your dreams either.” The young boy told Jim that no matter what he will always work to achieve his hopes and dreams regardless of the obstacles he may face. Incredibly, Caleb joined the football team only a year later and continues to be an inspiration to all.
Jim landed a job as an extra for a Disney Film called, “The Game Plan.” Coincidentally, at that time, there was a new reality show being launched, called, “The Great American Dream Vote.” Producers from the show heard about Jim and invited him on the show. Even though the show was canceled only after a few episodes, many publications announced Jim as the winner. His dream at the time was to workout for an NFL team to earn a spot on the final roster. The San Francisco 49ers honored their offer to Jim. Jim worked out for the 49ers in March of 2008. The deal he made with the young man from Indiana was now complete.
These days Jim is very focused on reaching his dream of reforming Christianity back to its original state. He is just the kind of dreamer that can do it.
