William Speir was born in Birmingham, Alabama in 1962, and graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1984. He was a management consultant and leader for almost 25 years, specializing in the human impact to change. He has worked for companies and with clients across the United States, Canada, Bermuda, and the United Kingdom. He has lived in Alabama, Michigan, Texas, Connecticut, and Florida.
He is an amateur historian and Civil War artillery expert.
He currently resides in Central Florida with his wife. He has two children and one grandson.
William Speir is an award winning author. His novel, "King's Ransom" won a 2014 Royal Palm Literary Award for pre-published historical fiction. His second historical novel, "The Saga of Asbjorn Thorleikson" is a semi-finalist in the 2015 Royal Palm Literary Award competition for pre-published historical fiction.
William signed with Progressive Rising Phoenix Press (PRPP) in 2015. "King's Ransom" was released in May 2015. "The Saga of Asbjorn Thorleikson" is being released in July 2015. His first fantasy novel, "The Kingstone of Airmid" will be released in the fall of 2015. His 7-book action adventure series, "The Knights of the Saltire Series" is being re-released starting in September 2015.
William's major influences are the classics (Tolkien, Hurbert, Eddings, Clavell, Van Lustbader, Dumas, Foote, Shakespeare, Clancey).
