I’m a freelance researcher/writer, in lupus and healthcare self-advocacy, with a background in Special Education, Library Science, Health Care (as a Certified Nursing Assistant/CNA), and newspaper work. I've been a U.S. constitutional tutor and a life-long volunteer. I was a columnist for the award-winning and hugely popular Everyday Warriors website for several years, until its closure in 2006.

My greatest achievement, besides surviving and thriving with SLE for over 50 years, is working as a healthcare researcher/writer and lupus advocate. I'm turning my experience into others' gain. As the familiar saying goes, "by their works, you shall know them" and I’ve found it to be true. Aside from my lupie biography (equivalent to a resume in our community), my work is not about me but it speaks for me. My readers’ response is my reward.

Lupus NewsLog offers research based information, minus the double-talk, from a lifelong lupie point of view. I've lived with active SLE life-long, for more than 50 years, despite all dire predictions of my youthful demise. I've researched lupus and other autoimmune diseases for more than 30 years. For over 3 years, Lupus NewsLog has offered research based lupus news, wolf-wise nutrition, recipes, lupie stories and a large links library. LNL is the successor to Butterfly News and Butterfly NewsBytes, which, together, ran over 2.5 yrs with me at the keyboard. At Lupus NewsLog, we serve up medically hip moxie with a sassy survivor attitude. I dig deep with a sharp shovel, turning up buried clinical research data, identifying disease stimulants in our environment, our healthcare and in our daily lives. Our medications, diets, supplements, stresses and challenges, our relationships with friends, family and the quality of our medical care can all influence our health, for good or ill. The more clearly we know just what works for or against us, the better we can protect ourselves. Together, we're learning to out-fox the wolf. As of 2/2007, I co-author Strange Dame, the personal weblog of Rose Harris, a writer on Alzheimer’s for several years and, like me, a former Everyday Warriors columnist. From 3/2007, I’m a member of CarePlace, a support site for those with various life challenges, where I’ve begun a journal as of 4/2007.
