'A MONUMENTAL JOURNEY' - An adventure mystery series capturing the spirit of Jules Verne & C.S. Lewis aboard the computerized schooner 'Heimdall' and beyond... www.richardlloydcederberg.com

richard began writing the MONUMENTAL JOURNEY SERIES in 2003. Eager for an adventure he embraced the challenge of writing about the Rognvald Vikings early journey to the Southwestern United States, which culminated over four hundred and fifty years later with the intrepid crew of the computerized schooner Heimdall retracing the original Rognvald journey in its remarkable fullness. Richard's novels have been likened to a unique blending of Jules Verne, Robert Lewis Stevenson, and C.S. Lewis. They were awarded CST's 2007 Best New Adventure, Mystery, Historical Fiction. Richard is presently writing a new spinoff novel entitled 'BETWEEN THE CRACKS'

the author commends (some of) his predominant literary influences as being Jules Verne, Soren Kierkegaard, Jack London, Robert Lewis Stevenson, May Kellogg Sullivan, Edith Wharton, Elizabeth Bronte, Susanna Moodie, Catharine Parr Traill, Johann David Wyss, Henry David Thoreau, Victor Hugo, Frank Herbert, C.S. Lewis, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, John Muir, Herman Hesse, Bret Harte, Daniel Defoe, and Mark Twain. richard has been privileged to travel extensively throughout the USA, the provinces of British Columbia, Manitoba, Alberta, and Saskatchewan in Canada, the Yukon Territories, the Aleutian Islands, Alaska, the Azorean Archipelagoes, and throughout Germany, Switzerland, Spain, and Holland...

because of a gifted mothers foresight, discipline, and unwavering love, richard was given an opportunity to begin a personal journey into the performing arts when he was four years of age. For years he practiced and performed on modern and classical trumpet, in church, school, with his trumpet teacher, and at events. But then, because of the phenomenal British musical invasion, (specifically the Beatles and the Dave Clark Five) the trumpet became boring and 'square' so he eagerly began learning acoustic and electric guitar while writing songs and lyrics. "There has rarely been a time in my life (up to the present) when I wasn’t writing in one form or another. For as long as I can remember I have always had pencil to paper (so to speak) to get creative ideas out.” For twenty plus years richard played music ranging from power rock, fusion, pop jazz, country swing, and top 40; he performed in clubs, cabarets, small venues, concert halls, and on TV in a wide variety of professional bands. Richard spent time at Mesa College, USD, UCSB, and SBC.

Birth Place: Chicago, IL

Accomplishments: richard has been privileged to accomplish several aesthetic projects in his life. "Clear vision, discipline, fortitude, focus, and my unwearied faith in the Risen Christ of the Bible are the main reasons." He quotes. As a writer, from 2003 forward, a loose recollection follows. Four integrated novels were written and published. Aug/Sept 2008, and Jan 2013, featured Poet on POETRY LIFE and TIMES In August 2007 richard was nominated for a 2008 PUSHCART PRIZE by the Mississippi Crow Magazine. Richard was awarded 2007 BEST NEW FICTION at Christian Story Teller for his first three novels and also 2006 POET OF THE YEAR @thewritingforum.net (now defunct) ... Richard has been published in varied anthologies, compendiums, and e-zines. Richard's literary work is currently in over 35,000 data bases and outlets. Richard's novels include: A MONUMENTAL JOURNEY - IN SEARCH OF THE FIRST TRIBE - THE UNDERGROUND RIVER - and BEYOND UNDERSTANDING. Jan 2013, Richard began (and is presently involved in) writing a new spinoff novel entitled BETWEEN THE CRACKS

richard designed, constructed, and operated a MIDI centered digital Recording Studio - TAYLOR and GRACE - from 1995 - 2002. "A most powerfully charged and magical time!" For seven years he diligently fulfilled his own visions and those of others. Richard personally composed, and multi-track recorded, over 500 compositions during this time and has two completed CD’s to his personal credit: WHAT LOVE HAS DONE and THE PATH. Both albums were mixed and mastered by Steve Wetherbee, founder of Golden Track Studios in San Diego.

Richard retired from the music business after performing professionally for fifteen years. "No regrets!" He affirmed. "It was a hell-hole of arrogance and drugs." He works, now, at one of San Diego's premier historical sites as a superintendent ......... Richard is also a carpenter and a collector of classic books, and books long out of print ........ Richard and his wife, Michele, have been avid adventurers and still love exploring the Laguna's, Cuyamaca's, and High Deserts in Southern California, the Eastern Sierra's, the Dixie National Forest, the Northern California and southern Oregon coastlines, and the "Four Corners" region of the United States.

QUOTES...

1. "Don't be too preoccupied with impressing, with being relevant, or with sounding profound. As each flower of the field, (and every other living thing in nature) has its own color and shape and fragrance, so does the heart of a writer and a poet. When you write from your source, with all your heart and mind and soul, you will touch those that you are meant to touch."

2. "Nothing of worth ever seems to be accomplished without enduring more than we think is necessary."

3. "There is an inescapable and humorous irony associated with pursuing authorship and poetry. One must be deeply introspective to reveal the gift, ferociously disciplined to develop the gift, diligent and fearless to display the gift, and forever hopeful that upon the revealing there is understanding and acceptance."
