"If Armistead Maupin and David Sedaris had a love child, it would be Arthur Wooten." The Examiner - San Francisco ***** Currently writing the screenplay for Birthday Pie starring Phylicia Rashad - director Debbie Allen....I also have my own column appearing in each issue of the London based magazine "reFRESH".

Background Information

Third Edition of On Picking Fruit: A Novel has been published by the Author's Guild.

Fruit Cocktail: A Novel - (editorial review) - Hop on board for this delicious, freshly squeezed sequel to the acclaimed On Picking Fruit, where Curtis Jenkins once again braves the fickle dating scene in his continuing search for the perfect man. After writing the successful "101 Ways to Collide Into Your Gay Soul Mate", Curtis finds on his book tour that men - whether in Provincetown, Los Angeles, or somewhere in between - rarely wear their hearts on their biceps . . . unless it's a tattoo. Funny, unpredictable, and strangely moving, Fruit Cocktail is, like its feckless hero, ripe for the picking. -

LOGO Television recomends On Picking Fruit - "...this is the great gay memoir you always wanted to write!" HX Magazine - NYC -

When he first arrived in New York City, Arthur pursued a career in theatre. And he actually made a living at it. He had to. No one would hire him as a waiter.

Eventually he started writing plays and then screenplays. Spring 2005 and at the age of 50 he self-published his first novel, On Picking Fruit.

Three months later Alyson Books discovered the book and offered Arthur a multiple book deal which included republishing On Picking Fruit (Dec. 2006) and its sequel, Fruit Cocktail (November 2007).

They've also invited him to contribute a short story to their collection Best Gay Love Stories: New York City (Nov. 2006).

He is now in negotiations for On Picking Fruit the television series.

Birth Place
Andover, MA USA

Arthur's full length play Birthday Pie won the Key West Theatre Festival's competition for 1998 and premiered his Southern "dramedy" at the Waterfront Playhouse.
