J. Love was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He was voted most likely to succeed while in the 9th grade when he attended Audubon Jr. High school. By the time he reached the 12th grade at Dorsey High, his life took a turn in the direction of obtaining a degree in street knowledge instead of keeping his once 3.6 grade point average up and attending college.
