Before writing this book, I lived the East Village bohemian artist existence for twelve years. During this period, from 1972-1985, I exhibited paintings and drawings at galleries, and worked as a free-lance graphic designer, illustrator, and advertising artist on Madison Avenue. Also like the main character in this screenplay, I have earned a living at various colleges and university art departments as a professor and hold B.F.A. and M.F.A. Degrees.
