My mother was a writer. She came close to being published, but never made it. Strange, but she didn't encourage me to write or read. At age 15 I was writing poetry that I hoped would become lyrics and would be picked up by some of the rock and roll artists of my day--Elvis, Ricky Nelson, Buddy Holly, etc. The comic books ads lured me with the coupons "turn your poetry into lyrics." They were scams and always wanted money. I didn't have any. With the fading of that dream, I didn't write until I was 28 and then it was non-fiction for denominational magazines and business publication more...
