Guerrero has been writing professionally since 1995 and draws from her personal experiences of working with animals. "I never expected to be a writer. When I was working for the World Famous Zoological Society of San Diego I had an injury (a fall from near the top of the zoo hay barn) that caused me to work on many different written projects and the rest is history.
