Blag your Way in Socially Networking YOUR Books!!!
Dr Blockbuster has been participating on internet connection sites since they launched some years ago.
First we had the "School" sites of Classmates and Friends Reunited.
This moved onto the opening up of "Forum" sites ... you name it, there's a forum out there for it. I started on http://www.commanderbond.net because of my leisure interest in James Bond and before you know it, I'm the "expert" on what's the latest news with Sir Sean Connery.
Now we have moved into a next generation of sites that allow many connections between people and "social networking" has arrived.
From an authors point of view, there is a massive NEW AUDIENCE out there, dipping in and out DAILY ... so why not slap your book in the face of the daily feeding frenzy. Whilst my analogy might be strained, these new networks are WHERE YOU WANT TO BE ALSO!
By participating on AuthorsDen, you already have taken the plunge and have found out what to do. Now, you should jump into these other big ponds and get your books sold.
So some of the sites you want to consider are Facebook, Myspace, Bebo, Youtube (yes!), Newsvine. Here's a statistic, Facebook claim that there are over 52 million regular visitors to their site ... and I'm certainly one of them.
What should you be doing? Create your own page as you do here on Authorsden and link back to AuthorsDen. Join book Groups. CREATE a book group if you want :smiles: (mine is just created, guess what ?... Blockbusterbooks!) CREATE ... "The A N Author Fan Club" Group. If you get 500 or 50,000 members, is that not a great advance? Some proof? - One hour ago, a book that I am selling, The Lazarus Strain, was No 6 on Amazon Medical Thrillers.
You might be thinking that this sounds all just too much hard work. You might be feeling "those sites" are for teenagers, not bona fide readers. Well you would be wrong on both counts!!
Here's the Good News:
1. The fastest growth area of social networking sites is in the age group 25+ . There are plenty over-40 groups, over-50 groups, a multiplicity of interests.
2. The creation and participation for you will be F U N . Yes progress might be slow just to start with, but how long did it take you to learn table tennis? Not long! I know of many who find GREAT FUN in these sites and acquire new friends with similar interests all over the world.
The bottom line is YOU SELL MORE BOOKS and YOU HAVE FUN. That is known as a double-whammy here in Scotland.... :smiles:
Dr Blockbuster has reached 10,000 posts annually on forums and new sites, so I know what I'm talking about!
