Whilst shopping in my local supermarket I encountered a somewhat unusual shop assistant.
Just browsing around my local supermarket one afternoon I was looking at some salt and pepper mills. Thinking they were a bit over-priced I prepared to move away, when a young shop assistant excused herself as she promptly fitted a display over the top of one of the prices, it read:
'BUY ONE GET ONE FREE'.
Interested in the offer I said 'That's not bad, so if I buy a pepper mill, I get the salt mill free or vice versa. Is that right'?
After a short pause whilst she eyed me up and down as if I had just told her I'd seen a herd of elephants at the checkout, she firmly replied.
'NO MADAM, THIS DISPLAY RELATES TO MILLS WHICH ARE OUT OF STOCK. I'VE PUT THIS HERE TO DRUM UP INTEREST BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T BEEN SELLING WELL'!
Is it me, or is the world totally mad?
